This is my first knife to be completely forged from a 1" x 2,5" x 0,2" rectangle of C70 steel.
The discoloration near the point is a bit of rust I got there after putting the knife in the just finished sheath.
I removed it afterwards.
The knife was forged, normalized three times and edge quenched in 15W40 multigrade motor oil heated to about 60 °C
It was then tempered at 180°C for an hour.
The blade was then ground to a convex appleseed edge up to 1500 grit and was made so as to leave the hammer marks (I actually removed more than I wanted to) and finally etched to show the differential temper line (not yet visible in the picture).
I'll take another picture of the etched knife.
I jokingly named it "Rat Skinner" due to the small size of the blade.
