After much hesitation and a little research i pulled the trigger on a GB american felling axe. it was a toss up between the Scandinavian forest axe and the american felling. but since im a tall stocky guy, the AFA should fit better and be safer.
Even tho GB axes are first rate and have a decent warranty to back it up, I still have a bit of buyers remorse. But I'm sure once I get it in my hands and use it, it'll all come together.

I'll update this thread once it arrives.

Unless you are going to transport it a long way on foot, a full size axe is better as it will be more efficient at processing larger quantities of wood.

I hear good things about the AFA. Hope you like it.

once you recieve it and get it into your hands you won't regret it. trust me, i just got one a couple weeks ago and love it. i've been meaning to post picks.
i will soon. i got the 31' straight handle.

well it arrived today. I dig it so far. I expected it to be heavy and unwieldy by reading peoples reviews. it's really not bad IMO. I would take it hiking and camping without a second thought. The fit and finish is great. the only problem is the handle needs a light sanding but that's no biggie.

I just got off work so I didn't get a chance to hack with it yet, but i did make a few fuzz sticks. It was surprisingly easy to control with one hand and did a fine job at slicing the wood.
