A red barn board bone two blade scout. This thing is nice. It was listed on Collectorknives as EDC condition, instead of mint. Honestly, I'm not sure why. Its fit, finish & jigging is as nice as any Case or Boker I've ever handled, better than most. From the way the bone meets the metal to the way the blade tangs meet the springs. Outstanding. I had read the springs on GECs were like bear traps. Boy, are they. You could lose a finger if you weren't careful. The whole knife is more substantial than it's length would lead you to believe. It's only 1/4" longer than my Case Cheetah Cub but far more robust in build and weight. I'm impressed. This may be the first but it won't be the last.

Uh oh! You're in trouble now- might as well kiss your disposable income goodbye for a while. Congrats on your first GEC- muhahahahahaaa!

GEC/Northfield/Tidoute's rock. I love 'em. Solid and burly. I swore I'd never carry a pocketknife less than 3 1/2 inches, but with their barlows at 3", they still feel like a substantial knife. Basically like someone cut an inch off a normal sized knife.
They have a new model, the #89, to be released within a week I hear. Dying to see what it looks like.

Hear this No.89 is meant to be a Gents' Knife, this sounds very interesting:thumbup:

I feel that GEC are knives that will wear very well indeed, get better with age.

I have a few of the EDC Congresses, and while I can see the "flaw" in them, it is just a minor cosmetic problem and in no way affects the solidity of the construction. They are still impressive. The flaws would just be regular production in any other knife.

That being said, I'm sure there are some EDCs out there that would not be acceptable to someone. I have seen at least a couple that have sheilds that are too overbuffed, resulting in obliterated letters. Others have slightly mismatched scales, or scales that aren't completely symetrical. Some have some shield gap. Some have scale pins that aren't perfect. These might bother someone.

I have not seen any that deal with blades or blade action, tightness or any other functionality.

Eric.

Aren't they great! You'll really appeciate the excellant heat treat to their 1095 blades as well!

You may also be interested that another brand is also available from GEC. One of the national distributors now owns the famous Cripple Creek name and they sell knives made by GEC under this brand.

That and GEC is also making knives for Bulldog now.

I just got my first GEC also. I seem to like it alright. I still like Case knives better though. I think they have a better F/F.

These GEC's are downright addictive. The quality is indeed amazing in todays market. Myself I really like their springs. I just passed on a Boker stockman with some excellent stag and ordered a GEC instead due to the weaker springs on the Boker. Glad I did the Stag on the GEC is far better as well.

Huh? I'm confused....there's GECs made made under the Cripple Creek name now? Where? Head hurts.

Back to the GEC EDCs. :)

I took a picture of the "Store" stamp that indicates the knife is a Store EDC, if anyone is interested.
