After starting a thread here and some further research I happily decided to get my first traditional folder, a GEC 73.

I love this blade! Sure I have lots of spydies and benchmades and etc. But this thing is just down right classy. I think I may have a new addiction starting:D

And so it begins...should not have started out with stag lol :D. Great looking knife, welcome to the addiction

Congrats on your first GEC. The quality F/F on these is just outstanding for a production knife. They're a joy to own and carry.

Great choice Matt! You can't go wrong with that choice, and what great looking stag! Welcome to the Trad Side....

You done real good picking that one to start with! Excellent taste!
Welcome to the good side :D

Welcome to the traditional group, it seems you have a real beauty for a first traditional and your first GEC.

Cheers,
Connor

Nice. Took me a few years of GECs to realize I should have started off like you just did.

:single_eye:You're already in too deep and there's no turning back, but you'll find solace here. ;);)

Yes, a very nice choice. Coming from moderns, a single blade linerlock is a natural choice, and yours is tops.

For your next one (and we know there will be MANY more!) try a multi-bladed slipjoint, like a stockman or jackknife.
The different uses for the smaller secondary blades is one of the experiential joys of traditional knives.

Nice, very nice, my first trad was a #73L in burnt stag and my second was also a #73L this time in ebony. Keep up the good work,

Kris,.

Thanks guys. I oringally bought it to carry on wedding, dinners and other fancier events. Bought as soon as I opened it, it quickly became my new EDC. I just can't seem to put this knife down.

matthew, yous sure made a great choice for your first GEC. My first two GEC were Northfield #73, a single and a two blade with burnt stag. I really like your liner lock as mine are not locking.

They are the 3rd & 4th from the bottom.

I'm sure you will find yourself with a few more as time goes on. Great choice and your hooked on quality folders, just in case you didn't know it.

Tom

You can't go wrong with the combo of GEC and single blade! (well, unless you got a French Kate....but that is another story)
