Just got this one in the mail today from collectorknives. It's a Northfield smooth almond bone #73 scout. I've never been a big fan of trapper style knives before but I like the single bolster and the shape of the spey blade better on these GEC's. The fit and finish is terrific, especially for a production knife. It definitely lives up to the UN-X-LD trademark. The action is nice and smooth, not a nailbreaker like many others have reported. The slightly beveled spines are easy on the hand also.

Most of the pics on dealers websites make the handles look like plastic. In person they have a slight color variation. It's hard to take a good pic of it, but my second one is the closest to the true look of the scales. The only bad thing about the knife is that it's going to make me want more GEC's. I've already got my eye on a #25 jack or easy open.

Very nice! Although it's not often praised, there is a lot to be said about smooth natural bone handles.

That's a great choice for a first GEC knife Danny. I wouldn't mind owning the exact same model myself. Classic.

I usually prefer some kind'uv jigging but that is a gorgeous smooth bone! You'll really like that #73; it's a worker!

A #73 is my choice also. Mine is in primitive bone and has lots of character. I think GEC hit a home run with these.

I normally like jigged bone more. In fact, I almost got a Tidioute Jack with the hemlock green bone. This was something different than what I already had though and I'm really pleased with it.

the scout is a perfect pocketknife for 90% of dailey use. you will love the edge holding of the 1095. mine is mexican bocote & everyone comes over when i pull it out, they think it's a custom. ordered another 23 in stag yesterday.
