Started this project today. Cut the rubber handle and brass fitting off and cleaned off the coating. Much easier to read now

I’ve never worked on a knife before so I’m lacking knowledge and probably some tools. I thought the stacked leather would look cool and wouldn’t be too hard

there are various posts in some of these forums on folks who have done it on different knives. if ya pull it off should look good. whats your plan on a guard?

I was planning on brass to keep with the vintage theme. Not sure about the butt of the handle tho. I guess maybe a brass pommel with a pin thru the hole? I haven’t figured out that part yet

Interesting as in weird? I could use advice and would love input and ideas. Or even pics of something similar for inspiration

Here is a handle I put on a different knife with a similar tang (bottom knife). Not leather, but same idea: guard, handle, pommel with solid pin (but could use a hollow pin for a lanyard hole). I did the same type to a recon tanto long ago but don't have a pic.

You should be able to get away with a belt sander, hacksaw, dremel, and a drill as a minimum.

Interesting as in challenging. I tried putting a wooden handle on a Master Hunter, but the offset tang just didn't lend itself to an easy solution. I ended up cord wrapping it and wasn't happy with the results.

It is strange how it’s offset. I’m hoping I can file out an offset groove in some brass
