  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

First Gen Spyderco

What kind of information are you looking for? First gen Delicas have a molded FRN pocket clip. The mold went through several changes, so a photo of that could help narrow down the age.

There's an Amazon photo link to it. I've had it for close to 30 years. I just haven't seen one like mine. I honestly don't know much about knives, this one was a gift. Hopefully the Amazon photo link works.
I was just curious how if there are more like it out there, I'd like to pass it on to my son one day and any information on it, age, confirmed generation, etc. I honestly haven't thought of it much until he recently asked me about it, and when we tried to search it, we found nothing half serrated like mine.

OP: I you look at the variation chart for the Delica in SpydieWiki link provided above you'll see that the Gen 1 Delica was made in 3 blade variations between 1990-1994 -- Plain edge (PE), Partially serrated (PS) & Serrated (SE).

You've have the PS variation.

It was quite common for Spyderco to offer these 3 blade variations for other models ln the past, not just for the Delica. In my collection, the following models have these 3 blade variations: Blackhawk (C24); Endura (C10; Military (C36); Police (C07) & Renegade (C23).

I haven't checked but there were probably other models that also offered these 3 blade variations. However, some models, like the Native (C41), were made only with PE & PS variations.

You can see the 2 variations this pic of my collection of Gen 1-3 Natives:

From top to bottom:

Native I Black FRN PE GIN1
Native I Black FRN PS GIN1
Native 2 S/S PE AUS10
Native 2 S/S PS AUS10
Native 3 Black FRN PE VG10
Native 3 Black FRN PS VG10

However, Spyderco apparently has dropped the PS options from current models and seems to be only offering the PE & SE blade variations now.
