Bought this back in 1993 when the Millie first came out. Its been out of service for awhile because the clip would not stay on any longer due to stripped threads. Today I dis-assembled it, re-threaded the holes, put longer screws in with blue loc-tite, ground them flush in the back and re-assembled with molybdeum disulfide grease on the blade pivot area. Even greased up the blade does not swing as easily as many other folders do, and that is fine with me. I like them a bit on the tight side. I am not a flipper and do not open the blade with a flick of my wrist. Possibly why the lock on this one is still in good shape after almost 20 years.

I've sharpened this one so many times I long ago lost count. Yet when I hold it up to one of the new ones I just got yesterday, there is no appreciable difference in blade length or profile. Got to love these CPM steels.

The clip has heat-shrink-tubing applied, which has been on it for over a year now. The tubing can be applied while the clip is on the knife, so again the blue LT will not be a problem. Slip tubing on clip, slide piece of metal between clip and knife, and apply heat until ti shrinks. This is perhaps the tenth piece I have applied since buying it in 93.

Sorry if I was out-of-line starting a new millie thread, but I do not see too many on older millies.

Here it is on the left, with my two newest millies, a black r/h and satin l/h.

Millie-I too have a first gen 440v Millie but it has 3hole clip. One great knife. Lost it for over a year and neighbor found it. I needed some help and i cleaned it up and its a good as new-almost! I will never part with it!! Own several millies and para's and its my fav Spyderco!

I had a 440V Millie, full serrated, but I sold it, I very much regret doing that

The two hole clip was the original design, as first featured in Tactical Knives rag. The three hole clip was due, I suppose, to the propensity to strip out the holes on the two-holer. Mine has suffered from that fate, but I think I got it fixed for good now. The screws in there go all the way to the end of the hole, and I had to grind them flush in the blade path. They are also slightly larger diameter, had to open up the hole in the clip and G10 scale. Don't know the exact size, had them in a box of screws that are usually used to mount engines on model aircraft, also had a tap of the proper size.

CPM440V holds an awesome edge. I don't know about others experience with it, but mine seems to chip out the edge easily. And I'm not taling about cutting things a knife is not going to cut. I'll be slicing a cardboard box, and Voila, theres a chip on the edge. More often than not, if I am sharpening it, its not because it got dull, its because it has a chip on the edge.

But yeah, I have had it forever, and will not sell it or trade it.
