First Gerber in my collection

Gentleman. I have just acquired what I think is a Gerber MKII. It has a black leather sheath with belt hook and a part serrated blade. It is in near mint condition and has to my knowledge never been used or carried.
It has a serial number 096410. I’d be very interested to know its approximate date of manufacture and value.
Any help will be much appreciated.

From the serial number that knife was made in 1980 and is 440C steel. The most valuable knives to collectors are the carbon steel bladed models from the Vietnam war era, namely those from 1975 and earlier, but especially those from 1972 and earlier. Your knife is still a nice collectable since it was made while Pete Gerber owned the company before Fiskars bought it.
