So this is my first try at making a knife, not even "making" per-se as I got the blade blank from CKK and simply put the handle on it. The way the light falls in the pic makes the transition of the handle look pretty bad on the back side but it's relatively even, not quite done tinkering yet. You can see a few scratches on it but I have since polished it nicely, also you can see a small hole in the handle about halfway down on the back side there, planning on flush mounting a small turquoise stone or maybe a damascus bead if I can find one. It fits SO nicely in the hand with the curvature of the antler and guts a fish like no tomorrow, definitely a user knife not collector quality work by any means but I'm proud of it as a first try. Your comments/suggestions/opinions are more than welcome

Some of the makers here started with blade blanks for their first few.
Don't be surprised when you catch the bug and want to start making your own blades.

I would suggest spending as much time as possible looking through the threads in Shop Talk - BladeSmith Questions and Answers
There is a lot you can learn here on the forums. Have fun and keep at it.
