First good knife I've made

Hey guys I'm new to the forum so hello to everyone :D

About a month ago i decided to start making knives as its been a childhood obsession making cardboard swords eventually steeping up to wood as long as my dad was willing to cut it out for me lol, so i built a kmg clone grinder and a propane forge and set off to make my first good blade, now Ive made knifes before but more of for fun and often ended up with a twisted piece of steel that i then through in the scrap metal pile. It was time to get serious so i started thinking about what kind of knife i would like to make and after searching the web and being influenced by survival tv shows, prepping and the movie the hunted lol I decided to make a survival knife, here's what i came up with

I chose 5160 steel for this blade because of its strength and ease to work with grinding, drilling, cutting and heat treating. The handles are brown canvas micarta with orange g10 liners and the pins are 1/4" stainless steel

Ive already started on my next knife same design but with a few refinements that i hope will improve the look and feel, so what do you guys think am i on the right path ? I hope to one day be successful at this not so much for making money but the satisfaction of people wanting something I've made :D

Thanks!

Very nice. You'll go far here.

I have to at that that looks pretty sweet. I'm curious about your choice of blade shape. Why tie shape compared to a spear point, which tends to be more customary in a survival knife. I like the look of your blade, but I am curious about your choice.

Nicely done! Looks great.

What type of sheath you going to pair with it?

Thanks !!! It came down to what looked the best, I drew it out with every blade shape but this was just what I considered to be the most aesthetically pleasing I would say it would function identically to spear point.

I really dig the blade shape on that! The handle is interesting. It looks either really comfortable or too blocky. Just my opinion based off the one photo.

What are the specs on it? Blade length, overall length and blade thickness?

Thanks! I really love the hedgehog sheaths and Ive been investing in leather working tools so i think end up making something along those lines with pouch and firesteel loop

Dang, that looks fantastic! I agree with CM, you'll go far around here. :)

Since I'm not holding the knife, it's not really fair for me to judge the handle, but - if you ever intended to sell these, contour more and I would make the finger grooves slightly wider as to accommodate larger hands. But again, if it fits your hand well, it's great!

thanks very much for the input the handle is very comfortable but ill be routing the handle of the next knife a bit more and widening the groves so that people who would be wearing gloves will be comfortable as well :D

Well done!
If you end up making another, try spalted(?) maple handles with mosaic pins. I really like how simple it is. How long did it take to make from drawing up to the end?

You did a great job! What looks especially good is your plunge. I'm just starting out and that's my hardest area to get perfect.

That looks fantastic! You're obviously quite talented. I like the blade shape and choice of materials very much, looks nicely finished as well. Any thoughts on the sheath?
