I learned a lot from making this knife. The blade is made of spring, most likely 5160, and for the handle and scabbard I used oak and walnut with a piece of copper for the spacer. Some of the things I learned from this is that I should make the gut hook bigger, the blade doesn't need to be that long, and a gut hook isn't all that necessary in the first place. My next attempt should be better. I was looking into the design of the nessmuk-style blade and decided to make one of those, too. I am not done with it yet, but I would like some information on how you would skin a deer with it. Does the hump near the end push the internal organs away while you run the blade down?
