Hi,

Here are a couple pics of my first HI kukri. Its a WWII by Santosh Kami that I got from the week long sale a few weeks ago. I haven't had an opportunity to do anything heavy with it yet due to a sore back, but soon it will be put through its paces! I like the balance and feel so far, and the fit and finish are what you expect from HI. The handle is bigger than any other kukri I have, probably a tiny bit big for my medium hand but certainly not an issue considering that many others are a bit on the small size.

My real reason for coming to HI was to get an M43 so I'm not sure why I bit on this one, but I like it. I saw it in action on the "khukuri in the kitchen" youtube video and figured the proceeds from the sale were going to a good cause. I love the old MKII's and am a big fan of the rounded shoulder design so I will be getting an M43 shortly.

no one can have just one so brace yourself and your wallet. :)

Nice pix!

Nice snag bill!
The WWII was UB's favorite. It is a great "all around" khukuri.

Warty,

I don't think I will get carried away, I have great self control

Nice one!
I've recently caught this fever... I know I wont be able to get just one, so hopefully I'll be done at two >.>

Welcome:)

The 18" WWII is one of my all time favorites. I've had it for....well forever;) I'll probably never part with it.

 Nice, LOL. Sounds (and looks) like my story, and my first HI was also a WWII made by Sher (The Tiger). I think most of us got started the same way and HIKV is truly something to be appreciated. Uncle Bill smiles upon us from above. Some here are old-timers who have accumulated a wealth of knowledge along with beautiful collectible and usable khukuris while others have embarked on the journey recently. It is said that genuine Khukuris have souls of their own and will come alive as part of your life if you treat them with proper respect and care. As for this forum, it's wonderful to have like-minded brethren to share the passion with. There may be disagreements but hopefully no hard feelings among brothas from anotha motha. Congrat on the acquisition!

That's a real nice WWII shortwinger. And I like the photo of your collection of curved blades:thumbup:. You're obviously no stranger to this style. Welcome to HI and the forum. More info and input is always welcomed.

Davino, remember your post when you're up to a dozen Khukuris;). But if you are able to stop at two I'll be sure to congratulate you. Welcome to forum, too, Davino.

Congrats. An 18" horn handled WWII was also my first khuk. I had lost out on a DOD and UB emailed me and suggested a WWII that he had just gotten in. It is special because UB picked it out special for me! A dozen khuks later, it is still my working khuk.
