Nothing like coming home to a box with something pointy and sharp! :D

After a lot of hemming and hawing, finally pulled the trigger on a Tamang by Vim. I'm very happy with the feel and look forward to trying her out when time permits. I'm curious as to how it will chop next to my beloved Battle Rat!

As a first time buyer I gotta say the sheath surprised me- love the feel and quality! Yangdu was very patient with my many emails, put it in the mail Monday and here it is!

Thanks much and hope to get up a couple pics in a few days!

Welcome aboard. Glad you're happy with your new steel. Look forward to your future report and pictures.

Rick

My macro setting stinks, but here it is with my other biggee- Swamp Rat Battle Rat

I'm really enjoying this knife already...some mellow martial arts practice. It's the first kukri I've even held so the balance, feel, speed!, liveness in hand is pretty fascinating to me..and great! Can honestly say I never thought I would have a blade thincker than my BR! Doesn't feel heavy in the least. Starting to see why folks are so impressed with the design of kukris and HI too of course!:)

Wish I could capture the etching on the blade and color contrasts...oh well, the next camera will!

That's an awesome knife:) congrats!

I've been eyeing one of those for some time. :p

Congratulations on your Tamang.

Did yours come in a blue coloured sheath? Mine did, and its one of the softest and nicest sheaths in the HI range. And a bit unusual too in that it does not come with a Karda or Chakma.

I've found my Tamang to be a true utility Khukuri, good for food prep and light chopping. What I especially like is that is has one of the thinest blades of the 15 HI khuk's I own, and shows that HI Kami's can make great light weight as well as pry-bar strength Khukuri's.

I think the sheath is black- but could be a very dark blue. I'm very pleased with with the sheath, soft, rides well, great retention and looks great. I'm new to HI and never hear folks mention their sheaths so it was a pleasant surprise for me.

Hope to get out today and see how the sucker chops!

I really like the design of the tamang knife. Straight, almost a bolo, almost a bowie. Enough belly to be a real khuk and have all those advantages but also great for stabs. Amazing knife. I want one.

Just tried it out for a bit and am very happy! Smaller limbs just came off with a flick of the wrist and I cleared part of a trail of mixed wood, vines and bushes. Took great bites on bigger wood and was very comfortable to use with gloves. Working on the wrist snap at end of the swing...

I like!! :)
