I'm looking to pick up my first high(er) end spyderco, I was looking at the P'Kal, the perrin ppt, and a ffg manix (the manix 5 or a sprint). Any others I should consider? My only other spyderco is a ffg zdp-189 endura 4.

There is no Manix 5. It is the Manix2 model being used at this point. Look for a sprint of the model you like the most. There are plenty of knives out there to choose from. The Para2 in M390 and blue G10 is coming soon.

Para2, Military, or Gayle Bradley.

Not sure if you'd consider the Moran Featherweight to be "high-end" with VG-10 and FRN handles, and a fixed blade on top of that. I just find the thing damn handy being light as a feather, easy to sharpen, and slices like a laser.

I agree..Any sprint para 2 is badass..Manix2 also..Can't wait for the blue g10

I apologize, I had the manix confused with the native. It's a native 5 I'm looking at.
EDIT: The G-10 version

I would say wait a little for the new Native 5 in Black G10. Sal has shown some great excitement about this latest version of the Native.

If you were interested in the native, consider this:

Spyderco Chaparral. I think it's a tad smaller than the native, but very similar looking.

Also a thinner blade at 2mm, compared to the native's 3mm blade. If you've never had a thin spyderco, you are missing out on a lightsaber of a knife. But the Native is still one of my favorites (I like the FRN s30v model personally) It carries so small I forget it's there, but with the choil it handles like a bigger knife, very comfortable in hand.

Can't go wrong with any of the Militaries, Paras, or Manix knives either. All a bit larger, though. So it depends what you really want. My absolute favorite right now, and probably for years to come is my CPM M4 Military, but it might be hard to find one of those any time soon.

You really cannot go wrong with ANY Spyderco made knife. Find a design you like, and buy it.
If it were me, I'd buy either a Para-2, Manix, Sage, or Gayle-Bradely.

Any spyderco in carbon fiber is my suggestion. I prefer the Military, Sage1 or Caly3cf.

I've been eyeing that one for a bit, as I've been looking for a folder that's thin behind the edge, and being a little over 1/16", it seems to fit the bill well. The only area of concern I see is the lack of a boye dent in the backlock. Though admittedly Cold Steel doesn't have that on their Tri-Ad lock folders. Would you say there's much chance of the lock disengaging in a firm grip?

 Gayle Bradley. Outstanding f&f.

Para2 is always nice, particularly a sprint.

Red Persian sprint, if you can find one......GORGEOUS.

The relatively new Vollotton or Navaja.

OR if you can hold out, the killer high end (price wise anyway) may be the upcoming LionSpy.

I doubt you'd ever have a problem, but I haven't personally handled it. I know a lot of people disliked the boye dent on the Native for some reason, though. I feel it wouldn't make a huge difference to me either way, but aesthetically I like the Chaparral's backlock.
