Took the boiz out on our first hike of this year today. Sun was shining for the most part, and above freezing.
Nice little conservation area near our place.
Only saw one other couple walking their dogs.
Found evidance of other bush crafters. Looks like they may have known what they were doing. Almost didn't see this till we were right on top of it.
Found this pirch...I'm assuming it's for owls?? Tried to get my son to stick his head in the hole to see what was in there, but he wasn't goin for it.
Found a nice little spot by a deadfall pine, Naturally we preped for a fire.
Fatwood!!! That dead pine was loaded with this!!
Started the fire with my ESEE firesteel and charcloth. Forgot to take pix of those, but here's the end result.
Then we all had to pose for pictures arround our creation.
My eldest, Tanner (13)
And my youngest, Michael (almost 9)
Me (40)
Nice to be outdoors again.
Found this burl...gona make a knifemaker happy one day.
And a little babbling brook. actully drank water from there. Didn't puke or die or nothin.
Many rolling hills in this bush.
I'm so out of shape from doin nothin over winter that after we got to the top of that hill I didn't think to take any more pix.
So thanx for lookin...
