Hello everyone,
My fiancee and I took our dog (a Basset/Lab mix named Max) on our first hike in a very long time. We drove 2 hours north and hiked the Fat Man's Loop trail in Flagstaff, AZ--a 2 mile hike labeled as "easy". I have to admit that the loose, damp snow covering random stretches of the trail made it more like "moderate", but still not too bad, difficulty wise, even for being out of shape. We enjoyed it, and the views were nice, and our dog got to play in the snow for the first time. It took us around 3 hours to complete the loop, and thankfully we didn't need to break out the first aid kit. The rocky terrain, mountain landscape, and pine forest was wonderful, and at 50*F it was good weather for the hike.
Max bravely guided us through the forest to safety, and I think he might have felt a bit proud:
