Went with a friend up Mt. Major today. Had some sun, some rain and a little fun with my modded Machax.

Up we go. Boulder loop; gets pretty steep towards the top with quite a few HUGE glacial erratics.

I was totally sucking wind. Haven't hiked in more than a year, but my back did OK.

Getting past the steep bits. That's Lake Winnipesaukee in the distance.

Didn't stay at the top but a moment, as it started raining again, but we were lucky enough as it stopped not long after and we had some sun right up until we got back to the parking lot.

Headed back down the Brook loop.

That's it. Wished I'd taken more pictures, but...I didn't. Oh well. Still a fun hike.

Nice report, it's always good to get the first one of the year out of the way. Especially if you managed not to hack out a lung. Nice views from the top; sucks that you couldn't stay longer. Man that's the third trail report tonight; I reeeally need to get out lol. Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful area. If I lived around a place like that, I'd go all the time.

Beautiful scenes, I could walk for days and never leave concrete & asphalt.
I could use a nature getaway.

awesome looking terrain! reminds me a lot of the places i hike.

Very nice. I need to go out and take some pictures. I take so many when I go out I usually end up going way over my planned mileage.

Sweet hike man!

Glad to see you healthy enough to get out and enjoy nature.

Using the BK-4 on May 4th? Coincidence? I think not.

Beautiful area. Thanks for the pics!
I haven't been hiking like that for years.
Hoping the girls will be able to handle it soon - I really miss it.

Cool. I need to get out. Kind of hard these days with two small kids. I think you have motivated me to go out tomorrow. Thanks.

Thanks for everyone's comments. It was fun, and I didn't realize how much I've been missing going out. I'm hoping to get out a bit more now that my back is (mostly) healed up. 'Course, the NH state bird (blackfly) will be out in droves soon, so maybe not so much more hiking in May. Can't afford to lose that much blood. But soon, the kids will be out of school and I'm planning on a few death-marches for them late spring/early summer. We have just an amazing amount of world class trails in this state.

I used to carry my kids in the Kelty backpack carrier. They loved it, and it was a hell of a workout. Now I just work out my whip arm driving them to the top ;).

Pretty rocky looking area, I like rocky terrain.
Then you'd love it here. Lots of "leaverites" - as in so big, you just leave 'er right there.....Didn't go up the main trail yesterday, as that has a lot of tilted granite slabs that can be a little slick (and kinda dangerous) when wet. Up near trailbum there's a mountain called Carter Dome - it's a big granite dome (as the name might imply) at the top. 100% stone summit. It's pretty cool.

Yep we would carry our first son in a sling, native style. I guess that is what we are used to though after living in native villages for so long in Alaska.

I am one of those people that needs to get out by himself though. I need the time to reflect and meditate in the woods. It really helps my soul.

Nice to see you get it there granite, the prettier one andi made it out to a river hike this past Saturday.

My pics are on Facebook, I don't have time to reupload things for you Peckerheads. I mean , um.. Becker, yea, Beckerheads ;)
