It finally happened...my 1st hike this year.
The forecast mentioned rain in the next few days here in SoCal, so I decided to take advantage of the good weather and check out one of my favorite trails in Mt. Baldy area.
This trail tends to get crowded in week-ends, but not to many people venture out on week days.
Cell phone pics, not the best quality...
Wide variety of fir, pine, cedar, alder, oak and sycamore fill out a shady canopy along the trail.
One of the best features of this trail - year-around creek which provides the best soundtrack.
With the snow melting at 8000'+, there are many springs bursting out along the trail at 4500'.
on water....
but this is still a dry arid place most time of year
Someone started building a cabin, but never finished it.
I took advantage of the flat spot and spent some time...
My "survival" kit for the day - all fits in the 10x4 bottle holder.
And a cup of tea
And finally, my wood processing tools for the day.
I was impressed with the splitting capability of this "chunk of steel" - columbia river corkum first strike.
I was also happy to see what the CS hawk can do.
That's about it.
Hope you guys enjoy it.
