Guess he was right.

I havn't even seriously tried my 18" Ganga ram that I start to think of thing like:

" I will be heavy to carry, you should get a 15" Ang Khola if you have to walk"

I was also looking for a bowie, BK7 style, but those are drying up, then the same voice tells me "Why don't you get a 12" Pen knife? It looks like a big recurved bowie."

But more seriously, is the pen knife a good alternative to a big bowie? Since beckers are harder and harder to find and I can't affort the closest one to it (Ranger or Ontario 7" blades).

a 15" pen would be an excellent bowie substitute....
or why not get an ak bowie or munk chunk cleaver?

why not buy all 3? :D
 
Please leave my HIKV to it's normal progression, I still am in University...

Bowies still are too expensive, but I can put my hand on a 12" pen for 55-65$ in DOTD

Oh, did I mention those nice little 8.5 inchers availible around last christmas? Hope there will be some more this year.
 
i'm the guy who doesn't like saying that one thing is better than another, they're just different, but now i'm gonna tell you that gettin a pen instead of a bk7 is not settling. it's upgrading. bk7 pokes better but you have the karda or your favorite folder for that.

edit: assuming you were lookin for a camp/trail knife
 
Well I first got an 18inch CAK and a tibetan short sword is heading my way. So I was going to by light Khuks, but then I saw the swords thread and I wanted an AK bowie anyways so now I just want everything :/

Yep, that describes me too, I just want everything. One of each model, in each size. Oh yeah, one set in horn and one in wood. Hmm, maybe one set in antler too. Or bone. Or both. And another set of villagers. And, and, and......................:D:D.
15 of the 18 HI blades I own were picked up through DOTD's, One from their website, and 2 from a fellow forumite.
