First Impression: Murray Carter Muteki neck knife

This is one of the early ones that Murray made after I asked (read: implored) him to begin offering neck knives at the Blade Show a few years back. The one I received was the second or third he made.

This one is one that I received from him the Blade Show when he received his master smith's stamp from the ABS.

Needless to say, it was a beautiful progression from micarta to mastodon ivory and Muteki laminated steel to Murray's hand forged laminated blade.

You can do it again anytime, Danbo. I've got plenty of RenWax on hand.

I've got a pair......a Muteki Tactical with carbon fiber handle scales (Hitachi #1 and 410 stainless) and a hand-forged Tactical with stag scales and mosaic pins.

I must say that in all my years of looking for the sharpest/keenest of blades, the hand-forged Carter, the same #1/410 mix, is waaay at the very top of the list! The edge on that piece has to be examined and used to be believed......

I use the Muteki Tactical on a daily basis, carrying it in an IWB Concelex custom sheath, and it, too, has an incredible edge. I burnish them on a polished steel and if need be, hit the edge on a fine ceramic hone then go back to the steel. Can't beat 'em! :D

I visited baldeart website many times just for reviewing Murrays's mastodon neck knife with mosic pins, but I wish its blade was hand forged.

it is hand forged... anything with his name in script on the tang is hand forged. the muteki ones have the two japanese symbols. i had to correct bladeart about this, their info is wrong.
