First impressions and tiny mods to Condor Nessmuk

Well, got this little knife a while back, but haven't had time to do anything until this week. I really like the feel of the knife in the hand. As everyone has said previously with Condor, a bit rough around the edges, but a very functional knife for the price.

The knife came sharp, but not shaving. It has a nice heft to the blade, but not uncomfortably so. I do not like that the sharpened edge stops so far from the handle, but I spent a bit of time on the belt sander and stone/strop and got a much nicer (to me) edge. You can see from the pictures it isn't perfect, but it lays hair off the arm and is fine for me to play with for now.

For what its worth, I need to get some action photos to add later. Maybe someone else will add some of theirs. It should be dandy for camp chores and such.

I have been eyeing one for a while, planning on the same mods, bringing the edge back, also finishing the handles.

For 2011 they've improved the sharpening job on these--the edge comes all the way back now.

Great job! Love the continued edge. They modified it to be similar from the factory for 2011 like Ben said. It does a great job as a chili stirrer too :)

Man I am glad to hear that. That was the main complaint I had with the little blade. I am going to work on it with sandpaper to contour the grrip, but that will different with everyone.

The walnut that Condor uses sands up real pretty. Depending on how high you take the grit it can practically glow.

That's the right mod to that blade. Looks much better now and it's much more useful/easy to use IMHO.
Good to hear they do that in the factory now.
Hope that goes for the other condor models, especially the bushlore & bushcraft ones.

Those also, and the Bushlore is in 1/8" stock now. :)

They'll be using a jig to sharpen their knives on now so there isn't that "axe edge" problem. :)

How soon can I expect to get ahold of one of the new and improved ones?

They should be coming out to the distributors now, but I'm not sure. They aren't using the jigs for the convex grind you see on this one, only the scandi ones. They will just be paying more attention to how thick it is for that last few 32s" and make it more slicey.
