I thought about it a spell before posting in this forum, but I figured.... What-the-heck.... Sooooooooo, here is my first feeble attempt at an integral. If I try another, it will have a shorter bolster and a tapered tang.

Forged from a length of .600 thick coil spring
Ironwood Handle Material
OAL - 10"
Blade tip to bolster - 5 1/4"

Thanks for taking the time to look............. Robert

robert.....i like it alot and i think it looks great for your first integral....to me though......i don't know if the handle looks too long or the blade looks too long for the handle.....it seems to me the handle looks too long but i guess it could be the pic.....looks sweet though.....ryan

That doesn't meet any part of my concept of "feeble" - particularly for a first integral. I think it's a real nice and useful looking piece. Hope you do some more.

just a suggestion when showing the tang -- keep the whole tang in the photo. easier to help analyze a knife if you use separate images rather than doing montages. My main impression is that the handle is a bit narrow in relation to the size of the blade but for first effort, be very pleased.

ryan, he didn't ask for critique. ;) :)

Actually, even though I didn't come out and ask for a critique, I was hoping to get some feedback from some of you guys who have seen and handled more knives that I ever will. That is the reason I posted in this section of the forums. I don't usually post here.

Can we see a larger image of the knife?

Keith, I will try to get a better shot of the knife. I struggle with photos, and that struggle often shows in my pics.

Thanks for the photo suggestion Murray. I will try to keep that in mind. I will have to agree that the blade, bolster, and handle are not in the best proportions.

Since this was my first, I spent so much time worrying about staying off of that bolster with the hammer, that I kind of let the rest "just happen".

Now that I realize I can do an inegral, I will "flail-the-hell" out of the next one and watch my overall proportions accordingly.

Thanks you all for taking the time to look and offer your comments.

Robert
