Finally got my paracord after waiting about 3 weeks. I wrapped it up last night so tightly that I have blisters on both hands.

Behold:

Out of the box it came sharper than my 0350 with s30v. I couldn't pushcut paper with the 0350 like the Izula could.

My Izula also came sharper than my 0350 also. I was impressed to say the least.

How did you finish the knife on the end, so far I can only seem to end up with a big knot.

First, I tied it using a regular knot.

EDIT: I didn't know this was an animated gif. By regular knot, I just mean the coyote brown knot by itself.

Then I cut the ends short enough that I could fuse the ends together. That's all I did. I tried many variations, but this looked the best. I tried using 2 basic knots back to back to make it tighter. I also tried a double knot

Two knots seemed too bulky looking as did a double knot. I would have tried some decorative knot, but I didn't have enough rope, nor did I figure out how to. Suggestion: if you want some fancy knot, start out with at least 7 feet so you have enough room to play with. The whole thing on mine was almost 5 feet long.

Also, all I had was a torch and a soddering iron (a quality one at that), both of which burned too hot, so the fuse could have been better. None of us smoke in the house hold, so I didn't have a BIC lighter (burns not as hot since it's an orange flame and not blue like my torch).

EDIT 2: You can just barely make out my fuse on the second picture. It's the black stuff.

If I can ever get mine wrapped that nicely I'm going to coat it in some epoxy and make it permanent. I figure it would be like micarta or G-10 only better looking if it works out.

Never thought of that. What epoxy or whatever do people put on paracord to make it permanent?

Not really sure where I read it but I think the quicker drying epoxy is supposed to be a little more flexible and then you can thin it some with alcohol to help it flow a little better. The best way would be to coat everything as you go but I doubt I could work that fast or cleanly under pressure. It would end up a disaster so I might just try a top dressing and try to work it down into the fibers.

Good question. I'm not sure. One of the RAT ppl could probably answer that though. All I know is that it cuts like a laser out of the box.

I own one as well:

I was actually a little disappointed with mine's edge out of the box. It's not a bad edge, but certainly didn't seem to have the sharpness that everyone else on the forums says theirs have.

When I first opened it and inspected the edge I actually wondered if mine might have been used because it wasn't as sharp as everyone said. I know it wasn't used though, because it had that strong petroleum oil smell.

I should have an EdgePro sharpener arriving in a few days, hence asking about the factory angle.
