I go on maybe 3-4 trips a year with these guys and we have a blast..Some will call this " Roughing It "..Namely our wives, who think were half crazy but as you all will see..This is far from roughing it..We always use outfitters which are surprisingly affordable and its so nice to end your journey where your truck is parked..

This is my kayak loaded down.. I take a ton of gear and like to be comfortable..Its rated for 450 lbs so I can haul roughly 225-235 lbs of gear safely..This trip I'm guessing I had 125lbs on board and it was very stable on the water..In three weeks were going to another river for two days..I still wont have it loaded down to its max..This kayak is a true work horse and paddles so easily..

My quarters for the evening..The weatherman called for possible showers so I had to set up my front porch..BTW thats a Eureka 5X7 two man tent..No bugs, rain or creepy crawlers when I'm trying to sleep..Plus I use a full size self inflating sleep pad..Throw a heavy fleece blanket down on top of that and cover up with another fleece blanket..No sleeping bag for me I like to stretch and sprawl out everywhere..I had to use sleeping bags in the boy scouts and when I was in the military..Never again..

I have not tried to haul camping stuff on my kayak. What river/waterway is this? What is the closest town? I will look it up on Google Earth. Looks fun.

Woke up this morning and walked out about ten steps to take this picture..This is where were heading after lunch..It didn't rain on us and today was looking good..

Heres a big island and I'm out front..The last time we cruised down the left side,, so now its time to see the right side...The water was a little more choppy on the right side but nothing too bad.. ..

The last couple miles of our journey..I drowned a few worms but had no luck..My one buddy caught two but he wasn't taking as many pictures as me..(That was my excuse)..Hope you all enjoy these as my photography skills aren't the greatest..Thanks for looking.CD

I assume they are fishing for smallmouths. Grew up in PA but East of Pgh. So I am somewhat familiar with the rivers. Looks like a great time! Need to get my kayak out. Didn't even take it out last year.

CD looks like fun man!! I just might have to join you guys! That is something I would really enjoy!! Maybe I can make a road trip, present you with your knife and then go kayaking with you?!!

That sounds like a plan Striderco..Just let me know what weekend and I'll pick up the beer, steaks and call the outfitter..You'll have so much fun we'd have to make it a yearly ritual..BTW...I'm serious..CD

nice! that looks fun. same here about blankets - i much prefer it over a sleeping bag since i like to toss and turn a lot.
