Ok guys I'm usually a SPYDERCO guy but I've been looking at a speedbump
can you guys sell me on kershaw knives ?
Also I'm a lefty so is this knife going to be ok for me ?
how is the lock system on this model ?
Does it hold an edge ?
Is it easy to resharpen?
Are these knives durable ?

yes we can.
yes it will. the flipper works wonders for both righties and lefties
very secure and easy to use.
very well. the new ones has 13c26 sandvick.
i am by no means a sharpening expert, especially on recurves.
yes they are durable. shoot for the all aluminum handle. it'll last you longer.

(if you dont mind my asking, where do you live in Kentucky? if covington or newport, ever been to Clark Knives?)

The pocket clip on the Bump series is not ambidextrous, but can still fit in the left pocket. I think the Kershaw Cyclone is truly ambidextrous, and is a great knife! Go for the Ti/ZDP Cyclone and you'll be glad you did.

I live in south east KY (Pike County)

Well I don't think that I'm going to get the speed bump. Just don't think that I'll like the speed asst. open .
What about the LEEKS ?

leeks are small, light duty knives, that are very fast and fun to open. nygiantsfan3342 is the guy to ask. he is a leek-aholic

I do LOVE the Leek, but it is very fast. Probably the fastest SpeedSafe knife, due to the strong torsion bar moving a lightweight blade. If you don't like AO though, it might be too fast for you. It is very Sheeple friendly, and there are lots of styles available, but not "ambidextrous" technically.

I recommend going to a knife store and handling the Kershaws. Then you can test-drive the SpeedSafe system. You'll be hooked on its convenience and fun.

I meant the OPENED Leek is non-threatening. The "OPENING" Leek might provoke some questions though. I find it easy to open my Leek covertly; under a desk or table, or even manually with two hands.

I am a Spyderco guy myself, :D but I do enjoy Kershaws as well. They make well designed and built knives and Kershaw's CS is top notch.
The stuff is something different from Spyderco, but the looks are there and the functionality too.

Guys how does the bump do with pocket lint, dust, grit, sand , you get the picture. The function of the ao is very important .
Also how is the lock on this is it solid w/ no worries ?

I edc the Spec Bump along with the Mini Mojito. The Mini Mojito comes out at least 10 to 15 times a day (for the last year) and I've never had an issue with the AO or the stud lock. The Spec Bump doesn't really come out much other than to play with it, (or to open something in front of a particularly aggravating customer ;)) so it definitely gets a lot of lint in it, and I've never had an issue with either on it. The stud lock is definitely solid, no play in either blade when locked. I haven't gotten them into much, if any grit though. The speed-safe mechanism and stud lock are so simple that I can't imagine grit or sand would have much more effect than on any other locking folder. The stud lock even less effect maybe, since the entire lock mechanism is exposed, it'd be pretty easy to get any grit or sand out of it.

The best way I've found to tell if I like a knife is to buy a used one on ebay. You can get something at about a quarter of the price, see how well it holds up and decide whether to buy a new one. It also gives you the option of having a user and/or a safe queen.

My bump came today & I really dislike this knife :thumbdn:
It looks so CHEAP like a flea market special :p
The ao is so slow , my CRKT desert cruiser w/ flipper opens twice as fast & a lot smoother . also the thickness of the blade is a little thin for my taste, although it is VERY VERY sharp ! I'm a lefty & this knife would be very uncomfortable to carry on the left , no way you could draw it quick & effective. I think this one will go to the for trade section ! :D

In your thread in the Blade Discussion Forum, you said you were going with the Spyderco Native instead of the Spec Bump. If you didn't buy the Native, which Bump did you get? The Speed Bump is a value priced version of the Spec Bump, but still better than anything CRKT makes, in my opinion. Also, the blade is NOT thin. Perhaps you should try the Zero Tolerance line of knives and try the ZT0301 or ZT0400. They have thick blades, fast AO, are drilled for left hand carry, and deploy quickly and effectively!

Here is a link to some Zero Tolerance pics and info:

After reading some of your other posts, you might want to look at the ZT 0400 too! Here is another link.http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=440972&highlight=scavenger
