Well, fullsized khuk anyway(first being a Bilton). I've just received my WWII model(blem) by Bura in the mail today. I wasn't expecting it 'til Wednesday. It has a horn handle and a really thick blade. I went outside as soon as I got it and chopped some small branches from a small tree that was cut down early in the day. It did an excellent job of clearing roots that were coming up out of the ground. Now it has some gunk on it that I've tried to take off with no luck. I scratched up the blade when I tried rubbing the stuff off with sandpaper:o  . Any idea how to take it off? Also, what should I use to polish the blade? Thank you for your time!

Tree sap? Try paint thinner or terpentine or some of that orange oil stuff they sell next to the checkout at Home Depot, Lowes, etc.

You WILL buy more, you know. It is inevitable. ;)

Diamondcut; you didn't mention how thick or long the kukri was. Kinda curious.

Was wondering if I forgot anything. Length is 16.5" and thickness is .075". Thank you for the links, ddean.

I always clean mine with 0000 steel wool. Then a coat of Johnson's wax. Seems to keep the blade a little cleaner the next time I chop.

Just leave the scratches in. Once you get a patina on the blade it won't look so bad. Keep this one for using and get another just for looking at. :)

I have this acid based detergent that I use to clean my dairy equiptment that is stainless. It is excellent for removing tree sap and light rust.

Wow! sounds like it's really strong for being so thin, must be a special alloy...:D
(did y'all mean 0.75")

...OK, i'm an engineer, so i'm a stickler for precision....

p.s. - simichrome polish or similar may help on the scratches...

Dragging this back on topic, mine was a BAS, given to me by my brother. A very nice knife but I have high hopes for the Bura 18in WW2 that is winging its way to me as we speak.
