Finally got a 15'' Boomerang off one of the "specials" threads and am VERY impressed with it :D. The edge it came with was horrible :p so I did some work with 250 grit carbide paper over a rubber mat and made the edge fully zero convexed eliminating the slight bevel that had been roughly ground. I then polished up the edge with 500 to 1200 to 2000 grit keeping it perfectly zero and it is DEVASTATING!!!! WOW!!! I was chopping some VERY hard wood that's been curing outside for the past three years and it just tore through!!! It definitely doesn't look too pretty after all my sanding :( as I messed up the nice finish pretty well, but I'll get a decent working satin finish back on it when I get the time. Safe to say, I'll be getting more khuks ;). I've already got a M43 too, but haven't used it yet. I'm thinking either a Ganga Ram or a AK. I really like full tang knives...not soo much the idea of a rat tail....I'm a huge Busse fan and discovered how much I like the full tang with the few Busse's I've got....so I dunno yet :D

I can officially see why you all are nuts for HI and they're amazing product. Yangdu was lightening fast with communication and shipping and packaging was impeccable. Amazing customer service and amazing product for an again...AMAZING price. Hi now has another loyal customer

Welcome and it sounds as though another oterwise sane american has msuccumbed to the dread HIKV virus. You will love that M-43 I have two of em. The one by Bura which was my first HI kuk is lighter than the one I picked up recently by Santosh. as well as several others. all razor sharp as they should be.

The M43 is very sharp...shaving actually. But the Boomerang came pretty dull...sharp enough for chopping, but not to utilize it's potential...it's right where I wanted it now though :D I remember it said "field sharp" does that mean it's more roughly sharpened than others? Dunno, but it's not a big deal...I prefer putting my own edge on my knives anyhow so I can get it to my norm.

You have been assimilated. Resistance is futile. :D

Careful, HI Khuks are habit forming...much like the compulsion that drives you Hogs;) Kindred spirit blades from opposite ends of the earth:)

Generally, field sharp refers to a rough chopping edge. A utility edge, if you will. Most khuks aren't kept razor sharp, but there are those (myself included) that like to see just what boundaries of sharpness these blades can be pushed to. I'd finish up that satin finish and enjoy your khuk. I never worry about the finish. Any user is going to have that magic stone mirror polish thrashed after the first bout of chopping:D:thumbup:

Welcome to the Cantina!

If you want to enter a new realm of chopping nirvana pick up a bonecutter. I have a boomerang and it's a great little chopper.

I have been really impressed with the cutting power of Sgt. Khadka's interpretation of this legendary model.

Remember that the HI rat tailed tang isn't your typical rat tailed tang. Read that as its way beefier.

Also remember that the rat tailed handles are MUCH easier to maintain in the event of handle material shrinking.

That bonecutter does look sweet, from the picture it looks as though the adge bevel is at a crisp angle. Im looking at getting one of Sarges knives real soon just haven't decided which model yet. How well does that blade cut c ompared to an M-43?

Thanks for the welcome fellas :D that bonecutters a beaut! I'll keep my eye out for one ;).

Here's a couple pics....I LOVE this knife. The pics don't really do it justice though :p I'm a horrible shot...with a camera that is ;)
