First Khukuri, I'm ruined

Just received my first Khukuri, a 20" Sirupati originally from Gurkha House. I bought it used because I thought it was a good deal. Now I'm hooked. I find myself checking this forum every 15 minutes waiting for someone to post one for sale. Took it to work today to show it to a friend, and he had the same reaction that I did. "It feels so good I have to force myself to put it down" and he's not even a knife nut. Whatever time I haven't spent polishing and fondling my new love, I've been reading about HI and the Kamis. Can't wait to get an AK or a BAS. Just wanted to say hello to you guys from a new convert.

Welcome to the Cantina ferguson! Sounds like you are in the first stages of HIKV. I'd like to warn you about it but I really can't, it's just to much fun. It's been about one month and six khukuris since I first came here and I don't regret it one bit.:D

I was on a Pentium 75 maybe 3 or 4 years ago and found the HI forum over on Knifeforums. Couple years earlier I'd mailed for pix ( wasn't on the net then ) and I called and ordered one over the phone one Monday. I think I sent a money order to Uncle on Monday also. Tuesday I was astonished to find it in the box. He'd mailed it before getting the payment. Tuesday afternoon I played with it and Wednesday I called to order two more, again sending off a money order. Thursday khukuris 2 and 3 arrived.

Anyway, that isn't a particularly off the wall way to get started on the road to stashing them away from your significant other, and acquiring enough khuks to be able to look your honey in the eye and say, "It's been ages since I got those old things, dear. I have a few around but I never counted them..." ( yeah I lost count somewhere around my third dozen ).

Anyway, welcome Ferg. Your khuk was made for GH by Khukuri House, the largest arun making khuks in Nepal. They make some reasonably good stuff for orders that require the quality. The Nepali Army, British army, and the orders from GH.

Ruined!! I think not! You have begun an interesting journey,along with gaining K's you will gain the friendship of the Cantina! Guys like Wal, Blues, JP,Blues ,Rus ,Paxton,Berk,Brian & others just as knowledgeable. Some members disappear for awhile, but they all return! Why, Bill & the Cantina, friendships formed & mail off line as much as on! You may never meet all, or maybe one, but they are all friends just a puter away! Welcome & enjoy the fight for K's!
