Ordered my first Khukuri yesterday! Feel like a kid waiting for Chrismas!
It's a 17in baby GRS made by The Kami with No Name. What do you guys think about TKWNN's work? Think I made a good choice for my first HI Khukuri? I can hardly wait!

Patrick

:
I don't have any khukuri's made by the TKWNN so I can't comment on their work.
But you have definitely got one nice khukuri coming!!!!
I absolutely Love my BGRS!!!!!!!
I believe you will find that it cuts like a much heavier khukuri, but then you will have to get a much larger khukuri to find out for yourself.

Hello, Patrick
Wellcome to the club!
The first HI I bough was a 12" Sirupati by the kami with no name and now I just got a 18th Century model, too.
Both knives were very good and up to the other HI kamis that I could compare them with.
And before you ask: don't worry about that thing of drawing blood everyy tome you get your khuk out of its sheath. Believe me, it will bite you, eventually, when it feels like.

I have a 12" AK and a Malla by the KNN. Both are very fine blades. I also have two by Sanu, who is very highly regarded by fellow forumutts,, er,,,, mites. I would never hesitate to take more KNNs. Sanu shows a bit more finesse in final finish, but the blades compare very closely in all respects. They have, after all, passed Bir Ghorka QC, and Uncle Bill's as well.

BTW - I think I've figured out their payroll procedure

One KNN has a blank "bowl" on his butterlamp mark. Another has just a dot (made by a centerpunch) in the left-bottom of the bowl. The third marks the bowl with a "/\" centered in the bowl. You not only get a very nice job with their knives, but also a copy of their "time card".

I have a 12"AK by the KNN. Very good work, I cannot imagine breaking this knife or haveing a problem with its edge retention. You should really like the kuk you recieve.

Also, Welcome to the family, and remember groceries come before kuks. I want you to remember that even though you may one day feel the other way,
Wait a minute... you could survive with kuks alone...hmmm... where did I place my checkbook.

Thanks for all the encouragement! Uncle Bill I'm watching the skies! Will give a report as soon as it arrives.

Pmcelrath,

Go to the search function, and seek out info on Durba (AKA "The Man")

If his stuff isn't all taken already, I definitely suggest him

Simple.

Your world is mass-produced. Who said something matters more than what was said, and how they look on TV is more important than that. Nobody quite seems to be willing to use words like honor and duty.

If you're 20-odd years old and come from this world, and put a khukuri in your hand . . . who knows what it could tell you.

That's my answer. Some would disagree.

I think I got a couple of Durbas in the last shipment. He made a fancy silver mounted AK if I remember correctly (doubtful) that was a winner. If I can dig it out later I'll post a pix and send it away as a UBDOTD.
