Here's my 1st completed attempt at stock removal. It has lots of problems, but I'm still pleased with it. Comments/Critiques away:eek:

Inspired by the Buck 113 model
440 C
Unknown Hardwood Scales
SS 1/8 pins, epoxied/not peened

Beveled with files on a Gough inspired jig.

This is what discovering this site has led me too. Another almost ready for unveiling and several more in the works:D

Looks good. I like your sheath too.

One thing that stands out is the lack of a lanyard tube. You can get away without one on material like g-10 but on wood it may start to wear the hole out.

Thanks for that tip, I have lanyard tube, but obviously haven't tried to use it. I was thinking oak would be plenty durable, however I did notice that it shaped and sanded easily when compared to bois d arc that I used for a bow riser and knife handle many years ago. I'm finding the oak to be rather plain (boring) but it does hide the imperfections well (from a distance at least) and it was free.

I have a Buck knife similar to that & it was a good inspirational knife to base your design on. I actually used my Buck 692 as a reference to size my handle length on my preliminary knife designs, as it is a very comfortable size & Buck has probably sized them fit 'the masses' hand size.

The knife turned out well, and you can probably add the tube to it now if you like. The bois d' arc would have been a great choice over the oak if you had it on hand. PM me if you want an inexpensive place to find it that I came across.

Very nice 1st knife ,well proportioned and shaped ,nice sheath also..you can always change the scales down the line I have knives on their third set of scales atb
