I was talking to a Buddy a while back about my knifemaking and we realized that it has been over 10 years since I've made Damascus steel.
I still have some from back then but I figured I'd better make some more, or risk losing the skill to do it.
Well I fired up the forge and went at it.
I made one thick wide bar for Bowie's etc and a thinner one for hunters and such.
I pre patterned the steel, then I forged this Bowie to go with my Sharps rifles.
The 12.5" long blade is 448 layers of 203E and 1095 in my favorite, the ladder pattern.
The handle is a mule deer antler with blued Damascus fittings.
I was quite pleased with how the new batch of steel came out, and when I get my new air hammer I'm going to make a lot more of it
Here are a couple of pics.
