I just got my ESEE Zancudo today in the mail, I was so excited when I put the knife in my hand the grip was great! ;)
also got a smiths 4" diamond sharpening stone!

I practiced some stropping with it *stropping noob*
Need some advice on how to get the strop compound evenly distributed

Are you using a solid compound like alumina (white) or Chromium Oxide (green)? If so, just rub it on the leather like chalk, the white compound won't show up that well until you start using it. Once you start stroping you will see the trail of swarf left behind on the leather and it will turn dark grey. If you're using green, don't use it on the same strop, use a separate strop for that and use it after the white compound.

There are many other things you can put on your strop like diamond paste, or even flitz. Everybody has something they like.

Wow that looks awesome! I love the color you chose and your name in it just ices the cake! I have a plain black one on the way and can't wait!

?.... I don't know what to think, but there is something seriously wrong with this picture...
I believe we are talking abou the same knife, it's with the size of the small Rat and the CRKT Heiho,
I don't mean to offend you but how small your hand should be to have such grip on the handle as the one from your picture...?!?

Other than that, congrats, it's a really nice knife, I like it, I find it very handy...

I thought the same thing...I actually panicked that I order the wrong knife and did a avispa vs zancudo google search to confirm its the correct one! I'm glad you said something, the OP must have Extra small hands!

That is so funny!
Op is pretty young, just look at his profile.

But hey, at least he has good taste!

OP, are you plain or peanut?

Silly Goose, I'm 21 just look very young *genetics* :)

Yes it is a Zancudo and I do have nimble extra small hands

Best way to apply compond to a strop is to heat the leather and the compound some then rub/draw the compound on the leather til has smooth texture . Would use a stove top and wave the strop above the burner not too close for a few minutes. Let the leather and compound get hot but don't put the leather to close to the burner. It will singe.

A male 21 year old with smooth supple baby-skin and no arm hair.. yeah bro i'm calling BS on that one, you can't fool us!
Nice blade though, you'll like it even more with time

As I mentioned: no harm intended, it was extremely strange for me to see hand, holding that particular size knife, with enough of the handle sticking out of your grip...
In the first moment I thought you had a small child holding it so you can take the picture...
Nothing wrong if you have small hands, it's a nice knife, I think you'll enjoy it...

To have some idea how big are all those ESEE/Ontario variations, here is a picture with most of them:

Top to bottom:

Chinese knock off of the Ontario Rat I called "Model 3" (larger than the original Ontario Rat Model I)
Ontario Rat Model I
Two Avispas
