I took a little time off from working on knives after the Lone Star show back in April. This knife is my "Llano Legend" model in CM154 stainless steel. Hand satin finish at 400 grit. The bolster is stabilized mountain juniper and the handle is some killer mesquite burl. I just cut up about three stumps worth of the mesquite, and I got quite a few high quality pieces. I just sent 24 blocks out for stabilization, so look for some nice mesquite knives from me in the future, and likely a few blocks in the classifieds. The sheath is my work as well. Here are the pics:

I like that! And I like how you use local woods. Those spalted hackberry handles you had in Dallas were beautiful, and I hate hackberry trees!

For the non-Texan readers out there, "Llano Legend" is alliterative. I know in Spanish the double L would be pronounced with a Y sound, but it's been Anglicized by the folks who actually live in Llano (between Fredericksburg and San Saba, I drive through it on the way home :) ).

Thanks for the language lesson, James. I have an active artistic appreciation for the alliterative approach :)

I really like it except for one thing. I can't stop looking at the crack in the bolster.
