I am hoping to get some feedback from some of the talented Knife Makers here on my first endeavor. This knife is made from G-10 and A-2 and is 6 7/8" long. Thanks for looking, Walter

Friction folder?
That looks really nice! You put a very functional edge shape on that. Classic bushcraft look.

It looks great for a first folder .I would be happy to have that in my pocket
cheers vice

Thanks for the reply, yes it is a friction folder and full convex grind from 1/8" stock. it's a little unnerving posting your first attempt.

This one is up for sale.

a couple of minor issues, at least from my perspective. It looks like you rolled the edge, putting an appleseed grind on it. It would look better if you had a full flat grind, and second, it would also look better if your grind had not broke the spine. In other words, stop your grind before you hit the spine. I would also change the logo signature on the blade, primarily reducing the size of the signature and deleting the outline of Virginia. It's a lot to put on a blade, and rather large. Something along the lines of Wm. Wells, and below that, Harrisonburg, Va. or a variation thereof. The aluminum, or steel, screws stand out to me, if you could have got black screws it would look smoother. remember, all of this is only my opinion.

Now, for the things you did right. It's one hell'va knife for a first knife. The design is excellent, the materials are fine, and the workmanship is excellent. All I see are small improvements that will become second nature over time.

David, thanks for your insight. I will take your input going forward. I did find myself "chasing the grind" I have some better stuff on the bench. Thanks again, Walter.
