i think i am going to put a patina on it and do a few more minor adjustments but the handle is homemade micarta the steel is from a prybar and it is my first time working with kydex also. i did the heat treatment myself with a small kiln and everything else with a handheld beltsander(extremely difficult) and an angle grinder once i get a better belt sander i can do much better i know i can

Get a cheap 1x30 belt grinder and you'll be rockin!

Looks good! I'd love to see some sharper photos. The only shot in focus is the one where the blade is sheathed.

ya sorry about the focus i am uploading some in use pics and i am going for the 1x30 belt sander haha what do you guys think should i sharpen the swedge?

just epoxied i dont have the supplies to pin yet but i will when i get a bit of money along with that belt sander

I don't have much to say about the knife, but Welcome to BladeForums. I've lived in New Mexico for many years and been to many out-of-the-way places here (heck, every place here is out of the way), but I've never heard of the town of Somewhere. :D

Love that handle. Looks really grippy. Not sure if you should sharpen the swedge or not. It looks to be a great piercer already.

haha:D ya its actually farmington but i figured if people want to know they will ask and new mexico is definately not the most exciting state haha

ya it is a great piercer and yes the handle is a great grip i kinda messed it up and its not even but it works i have anothe project in the works that i think will turn out pretty sweet i am just having problems with the heat treat the oil gets burned on and wont come off no matter how much it is sanded i dont want to remove alot of steel from it i am using vegetable oil any ideas?

OT: I haven't spent much time in Farmington, but I did love the Three Rivers Brewery. :D

Did an archaeological survey there a few years back, walking from Shiprock to Hogback. So yeah, I know all about "exciting." ;)
