I am new to the knife making world and have been learning under a brilliant knife maker by the name of Ross Tyser. The knife you will see is one of his designs, a Soco Gap skinner, The metal is 1095 and the handle material is philippine mahogany dymondwood. I hope to have my next knife up soon and it is a design i drew up. I would greatly appreciate feedback on what i can improve upon, and thank you for taking the time to read this.

That looks really great, especially for a first knife. Was it forged or stock removal? It's hard to see details from the pic but overall I'd say your lines are nice and the slabs seem to be well formed and fitted to the tang. Have you put it through any sort of cutting tests to see how it holds up? Even tough it looks good the way it performs will be more important in the long haul of your knife making. Thanks for sharing your work here. This is a great place to learn and share. Looking forward to seeing the knife you designed.

Thanks Mike for the feedback. And it was stock removal. As for cutting tests, i have not yet. Never even thought of it actually. I hope to be posting knives here more often within the next few months. I am getting my shop built as we speak this coming week and already bought a full setup for around 3500$ from the family of Bill Metcalfe, since his passing 2 years ago they decided to sell his equipment. And should be forging by this summer. As for my second knife it is not finished yet. I have to heat treat and temper it. Then flat it. I have the handles glued on for shaping atm. The bottom one is a bit bigger than the first knife. Please excuse my poor photography skills on this one.
