Hello,

Just recently took the jump into making a knife. 1080. G10 handles. My plunge cuts are pretty bad in my opinion, but plenty of time to learn. Steel is 1/8 in width.

My heat treating forge. I have a ceramic supply place near me in Dallas, TX.

The angle is making the edge look weird, but it does go all the way down the blade.

Two more I have heat treated... and meh plunge cuts.

It looks pretty good, especially considering it’s your first knife project. Mine looked like a turd with a blade sticking out of it. The plunge cuts take time and patience to get right.

Thanks. Yes, I've seen online that plunge cuts do seem to be hard at first, so I'm not being too hard on myself seeing that in a few places.

If I may ... I would venture (re the plunges) that what is going on is that your bevels are more rounded (convex) than flat. Keep practicing on the bevels: once you get them started

I built a little angle jig with some angle iron, but the problem I ran into was the shelf (not sure of the technical term) on my Craftsman belt sander isn't perfectly flat, so my jig grinding wasn't 100% smooth so I transitioned to free hand grinding. I have this version, just the Craftsman flavor.
