I bought an 'Air sog' years ago from A.G. Russel (Spelled right?)less than $40 and still has an awesome edge. It is S.O.G. (Special Operations Gear) is a great company

Hi Lawrence! SOG stand's for special operations group and I have also heard study and observations group. They do make top notch knives, some of the best around!!

Hello There!

Hmmm, S.O.G.Knives to me at least, equates to Solid Operational Gear! Which incidentally, I would certainly recommend without hesitation to anyone headed "up 'em mountains yonder" anyday soon.

The first cut is the deepest, or so sang Rod Steward. And even though the SOG Bowie came shaving sharp, the very first sight of it's price tag was quite enough to bleed me dry somehow! But, it was well worth it. And today, it still sits mint, unused. Knowing very well I wouldn't be able to stand the pain of having to actually use it after all these years. That's why I would recommend blade buying folks to get a SOG Tech or SEAL for sheer performance. Better yet, if you could afford it, to go ahead and get yourselves doubles. Ooops... Am I going to get into some kind of serious trouble sometime for writing all this Investigator Foose?

Krizzard,
I have a mint unused Trident, (basically a stainless Bowie with a micarta handle). It, like your Bowie sits pristine and unused; now it has a Scuba/Demo for company:p .
My AirSOG was the first SOG I owned; I still have it. It has been sharpened, but has also been used: it's a great EDC knife.

Hi There Bobby B!

Really good to see a friendly face around (Still Ontario's Number 1 SOG collector I see. Keep the faith!)

Nice choice for a collectable (the Trident), since its all stainless and as such doesn't require too much "babying" around. Though I reckon your other priceless treasure (the not-so-stainless Scuba/Demo) would most certainly keep you busy every other weekend (Unless of course you have it vacuum sealed or something. Wonder why it wasn't blued?)

Should have gotten the Air SOG when I had the chance. But I figure it's because I had settled for a Tomcat at that point in time (In case you need to know, that's pretty much in a mint state too).

As for me, the one SOG product that actually serves its purpose in the fullest surest way (as how it was intended to be, to you "mint-only" collectors), seems to be the all-in-one Paratool (Back then it came with a Blackie Collin's designed rigid sheath. Which by the way is no longer packaged with the current Paratool items. Perhaps Obi-Ron could give us a short Paratool history on that someday, unless of course he's still busy "Chrismas shopping" the warehouse for us!).

Let me end by saying that, SOG products shines most when its way past mint, as I am sure most of you SOG collecting folks will sound out a sharp 'aye to that!

"Special Operations Gear" is a great nickname! Whether for everyday use or for collection purposes, SOG knives are outstanding additions for anyone.

Hey Krizzard,
Yes, I'm still around... in good old Ontari-ario...
Scuba/Demo is AUS8, which (if I recall debates about  ...) is still considered stainless??? It tends to sit there being admired too...
My TiNi Powerlock, on the other hand, gets used with alarming regularity...:D It is my favourite multitool; and I've had Gerber and Leatherman.
My Tomcat has partial serrations :), it sits around too. My AirSOG gets used, as does my MagnaDot (in non-sheeple environments).
Seen any Midnite Tigers around?
Rob

Bobby, Bobby, Bobbbbb-Beee!

I really did it this time didn't I, Bobby?!!
Thanks for pointing out these, ahhh, umm... glaring over sights.
Now that we've gotten that out of the way.
About the Tomcat, there are models available with partial serrations too? Wow! That would be really something. I guess I am really a few years behind on this one. The only folder I have with full serrations would be the Auto-clip. Which I am happy to say, is fully utilized as how the good people of SOG-K intended it to be. Sad to say that the only Midnite Tiger I've seen so far is... the same one! Hope you find yours... someday:)

Ahh..so! An aftermaket Tomcat?? Hmmm... would that make it a "Bobcat" instead?
Thank's Ron, I learn something new with every reply.

A Bobcat? Cool!
I'd post a picture, but I'm sure everyone can imagine partial serrations...
Now if only SOG would make something like the "Bobcat" in ATS 34 or BG 42 or VG 10 (or some other alpha numeric soup) with an Arc lock???

Blackworks anyone???

Tomorrow (Friday) I'll have a "LNIB" (new-style) SOG TigerShark on it's way to me from a recent trade with a fellow "Forumite". This will be my first SOG knife, and I'm really anxious to get my hands on this monster "Bowie", as I've not handled one yet.:).

Glockman99,
How's the package? Your comments please. And don't you be holding back on anything. You're amongst kin now!
