Yes,This weekend I'm going to attend the Chesapeake Knife Show. The anticipation is growing. Can't wait.

Now, a question for you veterans...

Do you have any advice for me? What should I expect? Any surprises? Any dissapointments?

Should I bring any money? (just kidding;) )

Thanks, PJC

Here`s what I`ve learned from the few shows I`ve attended.
1.Usually,a maker will invite you to handle the knives, but if they don`t,ask first.
2.Ask questions.
3.Bring all your money!

What Carver said is good advice.

I can add this:
Don't be afraid to ask questions even if they are stupid. Most all makers are friendly enough to answer them (there are VERY few exceptions to this).

You will probably see more knives you want than you can afford(unless you are a billionaire). At this show (Chesapeake Knife Show), business is brisk. If you want something bad then you better buy it or it probably won't be there when you get back to that table.

There is going to be a large crowd at the show. Space will be tight. Hope you aren't claustrophobic. There will also be a long line of folks waiting to get in the door early in the day. Get there early and stay late so you will have a better chance of seeing it all.

Above all else HAVE FUN.

Stop by the table and say Hi. Phillip and I will be in the big room.

Oh yeah,theres one I forgot.If you`re the clumsy type,bring your own band-aids!

If you are wanting to see, handle, or buy knives from any big name makers go as early as possible. The stuff from these guys sells fast.

kit carson sold out at blade in about five minutes.

if you have something you KNOW you want, then RUN to their table and snatch it up,or youll miss it...

I have never bought a knife at a knife show and I was wondering if it is usually cash and carry or do makers take checks and credit too?

Hmmm fill a wheel barrow up with cash, preferably twenties...,then also bring a small bag to carry the knife home...:)

Just kidding but it could happen! Be as polite as you can and extra careful when handling these knives as they are the makers lively hood, bad manners are never a good thing!

Early is good, but there are soo many tables and makers I don't think you'll have a problem finding something, unless you have your heart set already you may want to wear some sneakers to get the jump on the crowd, it is a very brisk trade that is run on that one day show!

Some are gathering around Robertsons table midday or so, catch you there maybe...enjoy!

I've been going to the NYC shows for a few years, but none of them prepared me for Blade Show in Atlanta. I was in overload, still I hear it's nothing compared to this show where everything happens in one day. One Day!!!!!
Get yourself one of those outfits they wear in Roller Derby and go get 'em. :D
