First knife!! (Sort of)

I decided it would be cool to try to make a knife out of wood before I make one out of steel, so here's how it looks after 2 hours.
First I drew out a design on a piece of oak i had laying around.

Then I cut it out and filed down the handle for about an hour.

I decided to cheat a bit and used a jigsaw to cut out some bulky pieces, then filed down the rest of the handle.

Thought you might like the pics up front.

Making the first proto in wood will give you a good idea how things will come together. Nice simple design, keep us posted on your progress.

Thanks for the pictures. I'll keep posting my progress, but I'm using a crappy metal file and it's going slowly.
