So, a few years back I took an interest in knife making. Mainly because I wanted something I could do to pass the time in the hunting off season and also I enjoy making something from nothing with my hands. Well, I was hooked up with a "starter kit" of sorts with a precut blank, cocobolo scales, and corby bolts. As many people know, life can get in the way and other things take precedence over your hobbies. Well, I finally buckled down and started working on my knife yesterday.
I built a Gough filing jig to keep my bevels consistent and had to figure out a way to mount a vise temporarily on my back porch railing when I was going to work on my knife. I bought a 2x6 and had it cut into thirds and used 2 that I bolted together and then bolted the vise to which I clamp to the railing. I spent quite a bit of time hand filing yesterday, and plan to work on it some more tomorrow.
Here's my progress so far
I'll keep updating as I progress through this first build. Thanks for looking.
