Charlie and I haven't been around much lately. We have been working hard to catch up on our orders and not posting pictures at all. We can see the light at the end of the tunnel now, but we are still not accepting any new orders.
I thought I would take the time to show the first knife out of the shop with our new stamped logo. It is a 4 inch hunter with a flat ground blade of 3/16 inch thick CPMS30V. It has a Sambar stag handle with a mortised tang. The guard and pins are stainless steel. I hope that the stamp will let me forever retire that etching machine.

Looks great, Harry, the knife and the stamped logo.
Good to hear ya'll are so busy and happy to see you're back.

I generally prefer a well-done stamp to an etch. This sure is! (Unless the maker etches to the depth of a stamp. Especially forged.)

Your absence has been noted by me. Glad to know all is well.

Thanks!

Good looking mark Harry and very nice little knife.
To me, the best marks are easily noticed, however not something that draws the eye at first glance. You have hit the "mark" here imo.

Quite a few of the old regulars spending less time here these days.

Thanks for the comments guys. The logo change is something we have been working on for some time. We never have liked the etching process and didn't like the mark it leaves either. We looked at laser but the price was higher than we figured we would ever recover just marking knives. While we could have made some money with it doing custom marking, we want to make knives not start another business. We have had the same logo of crossed blades since 2002 and only recently on a few knives did we vary that by marking the spine of the blade with TWIN BLADES. We weren’t real happy with that either. We will still use the crossed blades logo on a knife from time to time since we have some customers that request it.

We have missed posting on here and visiting with makers and collectors. Times have changed and obligations change too as we all get older. Charlie is a granddad now and my boys are all getting out of college, trying to decide where their lives will lead (read: find a job) and starting businesses. The economy might be flat, but times are still busy. Not posting has helped us cut back on people that want to order knives. It is really hard to turn someone down and not something we like doing. We have really appreciated the patience of those that have orders and we will make every knife we have promised to make. Once we get past the current orders we are planning on only taking two orders at a time. That way we hope to be able to get a knife out to a customer within a week or so rather than the year or two that we have doing. The interval between the time of order and time of delivery will be the length of time it takes to make the knife. We hope to have time to make knives for shows and immediate delivery in between orders.

While we have never taken any kind of deposit or prepayment, we still feel a strong obligation to the customers with orders and taking time off for family has always been difficult. We hope that a change in the way we conduct our business will let us spend more time with our families and still make the knives we love to make and at the same time get them to the customer faster.

Thanks again for the comments and we both hope to be around here more often.
