Just wanted to share my first knife. Sorry for the bad pictures. My wife is a photographer so you'd think I could pick up a few things. Knife is 1/8" 1095 hardened by tru grit to 59rc. Handle is stabilized buckeye with black g10 liners. Overall I'm pretty happy with it. Made a lot of mistakes but I also learned a ton. Obviously I need to work on my finishing skills but it's a usable knife so I'm calling it a success. Feel free to point anything out, good or bad. Thanks for all the help along the way from the members here.

Damn!, this is one realy good knife for a first one. Congratulation, I am impressed:eek:. My first looked like a beat up chunk of metal, and I still can't get my plunge lines as good as these. You sir have talent.:D
And I don't really see anything wrong with your finish...

Thanks I appreciate it! There are some scratch marks in the blade that I didn't get out. Too excited to move on to the next grit I guess. Although I probably have enough time in this one that a normal person could have made a dozen knives lol.

don't be too hard on yourself. I made my first damascus knife last year and it took me about 50h scattered in the spand of the whole year. With experience you'll become way faster and better. Keep at it!;)

Well Done

Good flow and well proportioned. My first few the handles were big and clunkey!

I agree, better than my first by far, nice finish too. Only criticism I would give....use your wife's skills and take some proper photos.

Thanks everyone. I wasn't sure when I sketched it out but it is really comfortable in my hand. I'll definitely have to keep the template for this one.

I couldn't handle having another one waiting and not getting it done. So here's number two. Tried to get some better pictures.
