first knife

Mine was a Case 3318 given to me by my Grandad when I was ten or eleven. I sure wish I still had it.

Mine was a cub scout knife given to me by my father when I started scouting. I think I was 7. I wish I still had it.

It was an equal end jack with carbon blades and synthetic scales. Never knew the brand. I'm guessing it was made in the 40's or early 50's. It was old and well used when I adopted it in ~1960. I lost it sometime in the following 10 years.

Old Timer 1 bladed "Pioneer" I believe, in saw-cut delrin. My dad took me down to the hardware store to pick it out. I think I was about 7 or 8. I still have it, though the shield fell out years ago.

Yeller Case Trapper. Grandpa gave it to me. Not sure exactly how old it is, but Grandpa carried and used it for a loooooooong time before he gave it to me. I still carry and use it most days. I've been thinking about a GEC Moose to share pocket duty and give it some time off.

My first was an early Case Stag handled sheath knife :D
My Dads best friend gave it to me one time when we were fishing, I must have been about 9 or 10 years old...
I guess I've technically been doing Case knives for almost 40 years now:eek:

I had a one bladed victorinox, I don't even know how old I was. I was less than 10, as I got a victorinox tinker when I started boyscouts and that first had long since gone. I found it years later under a live oak in our backyard- locked up tight with grime and rust. It had apparently dropped out of my pocket while I was climbing that tree. I spent almost as much time in that tree as I did in the house.

My very first knife was a shell handle Imperial Barlow grandad bought me. He said if I didn't loose it for a year, and took care of it, I'd be getting a step up. The handles fell off it, but I kept it sharp and clean, and a year later my dad gave me a brand new Camillus "Official" scout knife. I carried that scout knife till I went in the army. It's serving the second generatin now.

My first traditional knife that I bought myself was a Buck 371 I picked up around this time last year. It went to a good home a couple months ago.

I had a large fisherman's knife that I kind of appropriated from my grandfather when I was about 12. I didn't steal it; I just asked if I could have it, and he said yes. Never actually cleaned a fish with it, and I don't know where it got off to haha.

Mine was a Sheffield single blade Jack with a Canadian Mountie on the handle. Many boyhood adventures with that little carbon blade in my pocket. Wish like heck I still had it. Maybe I'll take a peak at evilbay later and see if I can find another one.

my first had a steel handle and one blade. No spring. I believe it's called a friction folder?? The blade was a combination knife, bottle opener, screwdriver.

Imperial three blade stockman.

Sounds familiar. :D

My dad gave me that one when I was 4 or 5, it still gets carried and used.

Sadly I lost mine and when I had it I was only about 6 (uncle gave me it) I do remember it was some kind of buck with a lock back

I too have long ago lost my first knife, but thanks to a fellow forumite (and eBay) I found one pretty much just like it:D
Mine was an el cheapo, 2 blade Imperial Jack like the one in the picture. That was in the late 70's and the knife couldn't have cost more than $2. The Jacknife has been my favorite from the beginning. I'm not sure if that is because it was my first, or it was my first because I liked the pattern better than the others I could have bought.

I was 15, gonna be 21 soon, and it was a 34OT. Still have it. Retired for now, just want to let it live its life.
