There are about 1000 things I would like to fix but in an effort to save my sanity my first knife is done (minus deciding how I want to do the cord wrap)

15 inch OAL, 1080. 3/16ths

Let me know what you think.

That sure looks like a nice first knive to me! Looks like you spent alot of time on the finish too and it was worth it.

Good show brother.

Wow, that looks way, WAY better than the first one I made....very nice. The finish looks well done too...overall, I'd say you're off to a great start !

Sweet blade. It looks like it would be a great camp knife or woods knife. What kind of sheath will it get? Im thinking a black leather sheath would compliment it well. Did you do the HT? And how did you achieve that finish, was it clay quenched?

Yeah I did the HT.

It was clay quenched but the clay was too thin in places which is why it wandered all over.

I soaked it in diluted PCB etchant for 5 minutes after sanding to 800 grit, sanded to 1000 grit, soaked for 1 minute and repeated a few times (with the same piece of 1000 grit paper) then polished with an aluminum wheel polish by hand (edit: no sanding after the final dip in ferric chloride)
