Here is my first attempt at a Karambit. Just have to say that these are a real pain to grind!! My hat is off to all of you that have been doing these!

Steel is D-2 at RC 58, handle is bead blasted G-10. Overall length is 7 1/2" with a 2 7/8" blade.

Look forward to your comments.

Probably the nicest version I have ever seen!!  You taking that one to the Little Rock show for us the play with it?

Thanks Michael! Unfortunately I have already shipped this one out! BUT I will have some cool stuff to play with in Little Rock!

The thing I like best about this design is that you covered the rear hole with the handle material. I think that aspect would lend itself more for utility applications.

Great job.

I noticed that too and I agree.

I'm generally not a fan of Karambits at all because when ever I pick one up I think, "What the heck am I going to do with this thing?". However, I like this one because the more shallow curve makes it look like it could be a working knife and the pinky hole would make for better knife retention if you were, say, up a tree or in the water. Yeah, that's it! This is a UTILITY Karambit!

Tom, at 58 RC it seems a little softer than other D2 I've seen from you. Are sacrificing a few degrees of hardness to make them a little more field-sharpening/stropping/steeling friendly?

All that knife needs now is a pivot screw at the halfway point and a liner lock. ;)

Fulloflead,
I dropped the RC hardness to 58 to make it toughter. Most of my D2 combat knives are RC 58. I think it is really important on this one due to how thin the tip gets on this type of knife.

For a utility knife I think I would take out most of the hook. This would make it much more utilitarian and greatly increase the tip strength.

This one is pretty much pure fighter. That needle sharp tip and lots of recurve make it scary.

This handle feels pretty good without your finger in the hole also.

Yep! Part of what makes this knife for me is the scales included around the hole. Not a short cut by any means in making this Kerambit.
I believe you have a winner.
