First Look: Tommythewho scales for the JAB Potbelly

Attempting to "Beckerize" further into the Kabar line. I have plans for a ZK Pestilence Chopper too....

Contacted Tommythewho to make me some sweet handles for the recently cliched Potbelly. Obviously, these pics aren't that knife. They are the final product pics TTW sent me before payment. Will post pics of the handles on my PB when I get them in a few days. Also tweaking the sheath and streamlining it until I go leather later on. Hoping Skystorm makes good on his threats to buy a PB so i don't have to ship it off again. Cut off the ALICE-pack sized pouch yesterday, going to do some more to it today.

Chose Marblewood for my handles....

I like that knife! Wood handles with a leather sheath on a stripped/etched blade... that is going to look really classy. Can't wait to see the finished set-up (if someone can ever really be "finished" with a becker/ka-bar).

Those will look great on that knife! Looks like he's been doing some really nice work.
 
Oh Dear God! My PB needs wood. Hey Tanner, Flexx said that he could conjure up some liners if he can get a set of scales to pattern. I'll send him mine after I get some wood.

Tommy scales come with attached liners. I just didn't want them.
 
Talking to Saintcutlery right now about making micarta for this handle shape. Said he picked up a ZK for the pattern. Just emailed him back trying to convince him it's be to his benefit to get on BF and get a craftsman membership.

I think my next total makeover project is going to be a ZK Pestilence chopper.

Whats that? 'Whats up with that Potbelly', you say? Well, since you asked, I'll tell you! I got the Tommythewho scales in today, and as Tony the Tiger says, "They're GRRRRREAT!"

This knife is a masterpiece now. It feels NOTHING like how it did coming out of the box. These handles totally change the feel of the knife. They are WAY more comfortable, lighter, better looking. This feels like it will make the knife 1000X more comfortable for outdoor work. He should REAAALLY start doing these on the regular. I'd bet any amount of money they'll sell easy!

I'm seriously thinking about getting some Tommy scales for one of my Beckers now.
 
A 1/4 in convexed, Cliched blade from the heavens. Tommy did a killer job that thing is killer
 
Daxey likey. Muy awesome! That Potbellys looks like one mean chopper! Get to work on your zombie knife so I can get some more inspiration, please. Great work and thanks for sharing.
