Just grabbed this, any ideas what the 016v means on the blade? How come I’m not seeing these in the wild? I’ve had a ton of PM2s and everything looks right but it’s just odd that I don’t see a single pic of these in owners’ hands.

That’s a collector club member number! Not many out there yet as the first batch just recently dropped! Congrats on your new blade!

Hi Bin31t,

Many years ago, Spyderco began the "Collector club". These were individuals that were guaranteed to receive sample of each model when they first came out. They signed up for tis program. Each knife was numbered with the collectors number. Number 016v means that collector number 016 was send a "variation" of a previously released model., hence the "v".

Over the years, the club has changed many times to try to serve the collectors. But. since our introduction of "new models, and variations of those models" has grown to be much more prolific than originally thought, the club, while still being serviced, is not as large as it once was.

I would guess that the collector #016 is turning some or all of their collection when they are received. You have purchased one of those early pieces.

Thanks Sal! Wonderful example and those cut outs really enhance grip. Glad I didn’t get a factory defect or fake.
