Last night I went to the dreaded wally mart and was totally intent upon buying a Kershaw , I did not know they even carried a couple of Syderco's.

So after 20 or so minutes of handing each of the Kershaws A/O's I had my eye on , I noticed this little guy with a kickass blade style , saw it was the Native. The price was spot on (I think it was $34) and the other Syderco's I own are some of my favorites so I asked to see it.
I opened the blade , heard the 'snick!' and said "I'll take it", the guy behind the counter laughed because I had fondled the Kershaws for about 3-4 minutes a piece before checking the next one. :p

Being a picky sucker though , I noticed after I got home and proceeded to really study it , that when the blade closes it tends to sort of stop before it completely closes and that the F&F is a little off where the backspine meets the FRN , my questions are is this sort of a normal thing ? Here's what I'm saying , I'm thinking on taking it back to exchange for one that is spot on and I do know it is a low priced Spyder and I'm not expecting the world , now am I in any way complaining about it , you know just being a knife nut you sort of want things perfect as you can get them.

Otherwise , this is an AWESOME knife , this whole time I could have owned one of these....sigh.... I love the blade style and shape , this is one of the few knives I have bought that was actually (and I hate to use this term) scary sharp out of the box
I love how lightweight it is compared to my other EDC's , I am thinking on polishing the clip on the one I decide to keep though.

Also , the only 'cheesy' part I see on this knife is the clip screw , I dont know why it bugs me , maybe I am used to seeing torx screws or something , I do however like the fact that you folks combined the clip screw with a lanyard hole , pretty damn ingenious ! :)
This is also my first foray into VG10 , from what I have read it is a fine , fine steel.

Anyways..... tha tha tha tha thhha thats all folks !! :D

Hmmm...
You got one in VG-10 from WalMart? All the ones I have seen at Wally World were CPM S30V. In fact, I remember reading a post by Sal that part of the Wal Mart deal was that the Native would be Golden, CO made to ensure supplies. If yours really is VG-10, it is possible that you got one that someone else returned (and you KNOW people "return" things to Wal Mart that they didn't buy there). I you have a problem with it, either exchange it at WalMart for one you like better, or send it off to Spyderco for correction.

Gah , my bad , dunno why I was thinking VG10 , you are correct it is
CPMS30V
Thanks for the heads up :D

Mine doesn't snap shut like my other Spyderco lockbacks either. It has never opened in my pocket though. No complaints here.

Is it the original or the NIII? I have a BB original, it is okay but the FRN has given way around the hinge a little bit and CPM isnt my fav steel, still an amazing knife.

SS
(BTW I just DLed the antimalware software you suggested to me in W&C, thanks a bunch!)

No problemo , that Ewido is great software.

Just took it back and exchanged it for another, works like a charm :D
Not a fan at all of FRN but on Spyder's it doesnt bother me for some reason , hmm..... (I'm wierd).

Yeap , what an amazing little knife , this is my new EDC for a while , was carrying a Cara Cara in stainless but this is much more to my liking.

i have both a 1st gen BRK-assembled (IIRC) native, and a native III. i prefer the III, but both fit well in the hand and have been good to me.

most of my spydies are FRN-iguess it's more common and less expensive. doesn't matter too much to me. i love the feel of the adventura i have, the weight and "positiveness" of the action, to steal a term favored by many in the firearms enthusiast world. my EDC is still a merlin, though. FRN and serrated. hawkbills just are best to do most of the work i do with my EDC, which is primarily a mix of cutting THROUGH things and some delicate work with the tip.

Cant blame ya for carrying a hawkbill , one of my favorite bladeshapes there.

Ya know what , for Christmas I think I'm getting myself that Polliwog I've been wanting ! :D :D

edit , there is a 1st Gen BRK on the bay right now for $25.50 but its 'pick up' only ?? Geez , too bad I dont live in Texas.

The BRK is the mutant bastard child, I would never recommend to anyone. (no offense intended to zer0sig) I barely consider it a Spyderco and the fit and finish pretty much suck all the way around.

It was basically cross knife company collaboration that fell through. thespydieguru's site Click on that site then choose SPY -101 (Spyderco Faq) then click on the "What Is A "BRK Native" and Why Do People Hate Them" link.

Basically Rebeltf, if I'm advising you to buy a BRK, either you are my worst enemy or I'm messing with you in Whine and Cheese. :D
